Founded by Enzo Ferrari in Modena in September 1939 as Auto Avio Costruzioni, a name chosen because a non-compete clause from Ferrari’s departure from Alfa Romeo barred him from putting his own name on a car for four years.[1] The first car to carry the Ferrari badge itself, the 125 S, followed in 1947. Road cars have always existed alongside, and largely to fund, the company’s Formula One team, Scuderia Ferrari, the oldest surviving team in the sport.

Logo: File:Ferrari wordmark.svg · Ferrari. Displayed unmodified to identify this car, editorially and without any suggestion of endorsement or affiliation. Commons records the file as public domain for copyright purposes with an explicit 'trademarked' restriction; the basis for display here is trademark nominative use, not a copyright licence.

Accent colour: Sampled from the wordmark's own SVG source, which fills its path with #000000. Ferrari is popularly associated with 'Rosso Corsa' racing red, but no specific hex value for that red could be sourced from Commons or this file, so it is not recorded here.
