The 458’s kerb weight is a genuine conflict rather than a unit-conversion
trap. Wikipedia’s infobox states 3,450 lb (1,565 kg); NHTSA’s Canadian Vehicle
Specifications register states 1,380 kg for the same 2010-model-year 458
Italia coupé (a 13% gap, large enough that this site’s own rule of thumb
would normally send it to a human for a decision).[1] It
is recorded here as conflicting-sources rather than escalated outright,
because the shape of the disagreement is a familiar one for Ferraris
specifically: manufacturer-published weights for this era of Ferrari often
mix dry and kerb figures without saying which is which, and a roughly
180-185 kg gap is in the right range for exactly that difference (fuel,
fluids and options). The Wikipedia figure is kept as the primary value since
it is closer to the manufacturer’s own marketing materials; the CVS figure is
recorded rather than discarded.
The 458 Speciale’s mass is left as a genuine gap: no kerb or dry weight for it is stated anywhere in the article, only that it uses “thinner body panels, carbon fibre replacement panels” to save weight versus the standard car. This is a description with no number attached.
