The F430 replaced the 360 in 2004 and, with it, replaced fifty years of Dino-derived V8 architecture with an entirely new Ferrari-Maserati engine family, the F136.[1] It kept the 360’s aluminium chassis and glasshouse while reworking the body for aerodynamics and adding a Formula One-style manettino drive-mode selector, a first for a Ferrari road car.
