South Korea’s oldest surviving vehicle manufacturer, tracing back to Kyungsung Precision Industry in 1944, decades before it built a car of its own; its early decades were spent making bicycle and motorcycle parts.[1] It became Kia Motors Corporation in 1990 and dropped “Motors” in a 2021 rebrand, alongside the sweeping wordmark this catalogue uses. Kia has been partly owned by Hyundai Motor Company since 1998, when Hyundai bought a controlling stake out of the Asian financial crisis, and Hyundai remains its largest shareholder today; the two companies share platforms and engines extensively without being the same brand.
