The fourth-generation Rio, revealed at the 2016 Paris Motor Show and, for the first time, an export-only design (South Korea itself was offered the related Stonic crossover instead).[1] Global production ran until December 2023; a related but mechanically different car, built on a longer wheelbase for Russia and China under the FB/UC codes and sold there as the Kia K2, continued for longer and is not this generation.

The North American engine swap partway through this car’s life is recorded as two separate trims rather than one, because the two are genuinely different engines with different published outputs (130 hp GDi, then 120 hp MPi) rather than a running change to the same unit. Dimensions and kerb weight are each published as ranges spanning body style and trim, so the lowest figure in each range is recorded at generation level, not assigned to a specific trim.
