Detail
Peter the Great ordered an arms factory at Tula in 1712 and it has been making weapons ever since, which makes it the oldest manufacturer on this site by more than a century. Imperial muskets, the Mosin–Nagant, the Tokarev pistol, the Maxim and a long line of Soviet designs all came from it. Arms attributed to Tula here are those actually built there; Soviet production was routinely split across several plants, and a Mosin–Nagant may as easily be Izhevsk’s.
