Audi R8, 2006-2024

Produced
2006–2024
Generations
2

Audi’s only mid-engined production supercar, built from 2006 to 2024 across two generations that shared their underpinnings with a Lamborghini in both cases: the Gallardo, then the Huracán.[1] It shares its name, confusingly, with the unrelated Audi R8 Le Mans Prototype racing car that won Le Mans repeatedly in the early 2000s; the road car borrowed the name rather than any of the engineering. Both generations catalogued here were sold with naturally aspirated V10 engines to the very end (the R8 never went turbocharged, even as most of the rest of Audi’s range did), and Audi ended the nameplate in 2024 without a direct successor.

The nameplate article, thin by design. Generation-level specs come from the Type 42 and Type 4S articles instead.
