Audi’s first mid-engined road car since the 1980s Sport quattro, launched at the 2006 Paris Motor Show with a V8 borrowed from the RS4 before a V10 version, based on the unit in the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, arrived in 2008.[1] In 2007 it became the first car sold with full LED headlights as standard, and Le Mans winner Jacky Ickx called it “the best handling road car today.”
The trim recorded here is the 5.2 FSI V10 quattro, the performance flagship of the two engines offered, and the version that introduced the specifications most associated with the car: a 3.9-second run to 100 km/h and a 316 km/h top speed, both Audi’s own claimed figures rather than an independent test.
