Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino was founded in Turin in 1899 by Giovanni Agnelli and became, for most of the twentieth century, the car Italy actually drove: a mass manufacturer whose small, cheap models were licensed and copied across the Eastern Bloc and Latin America almost as often as they were sold under the Fiat badge itself.[1] It now trades as FIAT Automobiles, a subsidiary of Stellantis.
