Romania’s national car brand, founded in 1966 as Uzina de Autoturisme Pitești to build Renault designs under licence: first the Renault 8 as the Dacia 1100, then the Renault 12 as the long-running Dacia 1300.[1] The Romanian state sold the company to Renault in 1999, and Renault has since repositioned it as its budget brand worldwide: simple, durable cars sold at a low price rather than a Romanian nameplate in its own right. Dacia adopted a new khaki-green livery and wordmark, used throughout this catalogue, in its 2021 rebrand.
