Vickers Limited was a British engineering and armaments conglomerate founded in 1828 and headquartered in London. It manufactured the Vickers machine gun, its development of Hiram Maxim’s earlier design, from 1912 for British and Commonwealth service. The company merged with Sir W. G. Armstrong Whitworth & Company in 1927 to form Vickers-Armstrongs.
