Remington Arms

Eliphalet Remington began making rifle barrels at Ilion, New York in 1816, which makes this the oldest firearms business still trading in the United States and among the oldest anywhere. The corporate entity behind it has been anything but continuous: Remington Outdoor Company was broken up at a 2020 bankruptcy auction and the long-arm half now trades as RemArms, still at Ilion and now also at LaGrange, Georgia. Entries are attributed to the business that built them rather than to whichever holding company owned the name that decade.
