Trejo pistol is the umbrella name for a series of small blowback machine pistols built by hand in Puebla, Mexico, from 1948, the best known of which — the Modelo 1 “Tipo Ráfaga” — is among the smallest select-fire arms ever series-produced. Gabriel and Abraham Trejo built the tooling to rifle their own barrels rather than buying it, and the resulting pistol is a straight-blowback .22 Long Rifle design with a selector on the slide switching between one shot per pull and automatic fire from an 8-round single-stack magazine, cycling fast enough to empty that magazine in well under a second.
Later models scaled the same layout up: the Modelo 2 held an 11-round magazine, and the Modelo 3 and Modelo 4 moved to .32 ACP, .380 ACP and, briefly, 9 mm. Production stopped in 1971 under Mexican arms restrictions, after which the firm turned to work tricycles and farm machinery; it resumed building the pistols in 2010 with updated GT and TM versions of the same models. An estimated 80,000-100,000 Trejo pistols of all models were made across the pre-1971 run.
