The PP-2000 is a bullpup, straight-blowback submachine gun designed at KBP Instrument Design Bureau in Tula between 1993 and 1997 and put into production in 2006, aimed at Russian police and special-purpose units who needed something smaller than a rifle but harder-hitting than a standard pistol. Its magazine sits inside the pistol grip and its bolt runs back over the top of the barrel rather than behind it, which is what lets a gun with a full-length barrel fold down to little more than the length of its grip and trigger group.

Its most distinctive feature is a triangular polymer frame around the trigger guard that doubles as a foregrip, replacing the separate forend most submachine guns need, and a wire skeleton stock that folds forward along the top of the receiver rather than to the side. KBP designed the gun around a family of dedicated 9×19mm loads as much as around the mechanism itself: alongside standard 9×19mm Parabellum, it is issued with 7N21 and 7N31 +P+ armour-piercing loads developed for the same programme, neither of which is modelled as a separate cartridge entry on this site.
