The original C3, launched in January 2002 as a five-door hatchback and styled under Donato Coco, who had also drawn the Xsara Picasso.[1] Under PSA’s platform-sharing policy it used the same chassis as the Peugeot 1007 and much of the same componentry as the Peugeot 206. A quirky convertible derivative, the C3 Pluriel, offered five different open-top configurations from a fixed roof to a full roadster pickup bed; Top Gear later named it one of the worst cars of the previous twenty years for how awkwardly that roof worked in practice.
Four engines are recorded here from the seven or eight the car was eventually sold with; all of their outputs are published directly in kW in the source, so no unit conversion was needed for any of them. Kerb weight is only published as a range across the whole line-up, so the lowest figure is recorded at generation level rather than assigned to a specific trim.
