Traces back to 1933 as Jidosha-Seizo, renamed Nissan Motor the following year, and to the DAT car company founded two decades earlier still. DAT’s initials survive in the Datsun name Nissan exported under for decades.[1] Nearly collapsed in the late 1990s, it was rescued by a capital alliance with Renault in 1999, and the two companies, later joined by Mitsubishi, have operated as the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance ever since, each remaining an independently listed company.

Accent colour: Sampled from the badge's own SVG source, which defines no fill colour for its paths and so renders at the SVG default of black. No official coloured Nissan brand-guideline hex could be sourced from this file.
