Detail
United Defense Supply Corporation was founded during the Second World War by Pope and Jackson of the British Purchasing Commission to take over development of the submachine gun Carl G. Swebilius had designed at the High Standard Manufacturing Company, after High Standard itself was tasked with building .50 calibre machine guns for the British government. United Defense had no manufacturing capacity of its own and contracted the Marlin Firearms Company to actually build the resulting M42 submachine gun. No free source records the corporation’s activity beyond this single wartime contract.
