Founded in 1871, Harrington & Richardson built inexpensive single-shot and pump shotguns, single-shot rifles and revolvers for the American civilian market for most of its history. Its wartime departure from that line was the Reising submachine gun, produced from 1941 to fill a gap left by Thompson production shortages. The company closed in 2015.
