- Case length
- 22 mm0.8661 inestimated
Converted from .866 in, Wikipedia infobox. No C.I.P. or SAAMI free dimensional standard was found for this discontinued round.
- Overall length

Converted from 1.17 in, Wikipedia infobox.
- Rim diameter
- 10.01 mm0.3941 inestimated
Converted from .394 in, Wikipedia infobox. The rim is rebated (narrower than the case base), which is why the case functions in pistols built around the 9×19mm Parabellum's rim diameter.
- Neck diameter
- 11.02 mm0.4339 inestimated
Converted from .434 in, Wikipedia infobox.
- Base diameter
- 11.05 mm0.4350 inestimated
Converted from .435 in, Wikipedia infobox.
Pressure
- Maximum pressure
- 241.3 MPa34,998 psiestimated
Converted from a published 35,000 psi figure, Wikipedia infobox.
- Pressure standard
- SAAMI
SAAMI and C.I.P. measure pressure differently and their figures are not interchangeable, which is why the body is always named beside the figure.
Loads
Velocity is recorded per barrel length as published. A gun page interpolates between these points and never projects beyond them.

170 gr bullet, from a handloading data page (Hodgdon), via the Wikipedia infobox. The published velocity on that page is a maximum-handload result tied to a specific powder charge, not a factory-ammunition figure, so it is not recorded.

Detail
The .41 Action Express is a rebated-rim, straight-walled pistol cartridge Evan Whildin, vice president of Action Arms, designed in 1986 to reproduce the performance of the .41 Magnum’s reduced-power police load in a semi-automatic pistol. Its case was based on the .41 Magnum’s, cut down to fit a 9×19mm Parabellum-sized frame, and its rebated rim let many 9mm pistols be converted to it with only a change of barrel, mainspring and magazine.
It was overtaken almost at once by the .40 S&W, a shortened 10mm Auto case that also fitted a 9mm-sized pistol and that most ammunition makers backed. With little room left for the very similar .41 AE, production of both pistols and ammunition was soon phased out, and SAAMI designated it an inactive cartridge in January 2005.
No C.I.P. or SAAMI free dimensional standard was located for this discontinued round; all dimensions and pressure here are converted from the figures in Wikipedia’s infobox and recorded as estimated. Three bullet weights are recorded from a handloading data page, but that page’s published velocities are maximum-handload results tied to a specific powder charge rather than factory-ammunition figures, so no velocity or energy is recorded. No photograph of a pistol chambered for this cartridge appears on this site.
