Ford’s global “world car” for the D-segment, on sale from 1992 to 2022 as the shared replacement for the Sierra in Europe, the Tempo in North America and the Telstar across Asia and Australia.[1] It was sold in North America for most of its life under different names (Contour, Mystique, and later Fusion), while keeping the Mondeo badge everywhere else.

This entry covers the first two generations, as Wikipedia itself divides them: the original 1992 car, which introduced the ST200 performance flagship late in its run, and the second generation of 2000, whose ST220 pushed the same idea further with a 3.0-litre V6. Every generation after the second is a gap in this catalogue.
