Detail

Gaston Glock’s company was making curtain rods, field knives and entrenching tools at Deutsch-Wagram when the Austrian army issued its 1980 requirement for a new service pistol. The firm had never built a firearm. What it submitted won the trial, entered Austrian service in 1982 as the P80, and turned a small metal-and-polymer workshop into one of the largest handgun manufacturers in the world. Production continues at Deutsch-Wagram and, since 1999, at Smyrna in Georgia. The arms attributed to the company below are computed from the manufacturer reference carried by each entry, never listed here by hand.
