SAAMI and C.I.P. measure pressure differently and their figures are not interchangeable, which is why the body is always named beside the figure.

Loads

Velocity is recorded per barrel length as published. A gun page interpolates between these points and never projects beyond them.

Detail

Bergmann introduced this bottlenecked, semi-rimmed pistol cartridge in 1895 as one of a family of proprietary rounds built around its own early blowback pistols, sized between the smaller 5mm and larger 8mm Bergmann cartridges the same company offered in different pistol models sold under the same “Bergmann 1896” name. Like its siblings, it was designed and sold as a matched pair with its own pistol rather than as an independent commercial round adopted across multiple makers’ designs.

No C.I.P. or SAAMI dimensional standard exists for a 19th-century proprietary pistol round, so every figure in this entry is converted from the reference work “Textbook of Automatic Pistols” via the Wikipedia infobox, and all of them carry estimated status. No test-barrel length is published for its one recorded load, so only bullet mass is recorded and no photograph illustrates this entry.
