Introduced in 1958 as the P 50, this is the car everything that followed was a facelift of: a duroplast-bodied, front-wheel-drive small car with a transverse two-stroke twin descended from a pre-war DKW design.[1] Power grew twice in six years without any real change to the car underneath it: 17 PS at launch, 20 PS in 1960 with a newly synchronised gearbox, and 23 PS in 1962 when the engine grew to 594 cc and the car was renamed P 60 ahead of the 601 facelift.
Only running-change output figures are recorded here as trims; no acceleration or dimensional figures specific to the P50/P60 period, as distinct from the 601 that followed it, are given anywhere in the source.
