Powertrain

The GR Supra’s engines, transmissions and much of its platform came from BMW: the four-cylinder B48 and six-cylinder B58 also power various 3 and 4 Series cars, and the Supra was built alongside its closest relative, the BMW Z4, at Magna Steyr’s plant in Graz.[1] Production ended in March 2026 with a Final Edition, closing this generation’s run at just over seven years.

Both output figures recorded here are launch (2019) specifications, not the highest ever offered. Toyota progressively raised power through the run: the six-cylinder alone went through outputs as high as 324 kW for the 2023 Japanese-market RZ and 429 hp for the Final Edition sold outside the US, and treating every one of those as a separate trim would sprawl well beyond what this entry needs; the launch 2.0 and 3.0 bracket the range instead.
