Body style

The J300, launched in 2021 on Toyota’s body-on-frame GA-F platform, is about 200 kg lighter than the J200 it replaced despite Toyota keeping the exterior footprint close to its predecessor’s to preserve the same off-road approach and departure angles.[1] It shares its platform with the Lexus LX, the related Land Cruiser Prado (J250), and, more distantly, the Toyota Tundra and Sequoia pickups.

As with several long-running SUV nameplates on this site, only one weight range is published for the whole engine line-up (2,310-2,645 kg) rather than a figure per trim. The lighter petrol VJA300 and the heavier diesel FJA300 take the two ends of that range on the same basis used for the Audi Q7 and A8 entries: a plausible mapping given which trim is mechanically heavier, not a manufacturer-confirmed figure for those two engines specifically.
