Launched in November 2002, the fourth Espace was the first generation designed and built entirely by Renault, without Matra’s involvement: Matra’s Espace-building Romorantin plant had by then closed, and production moved to Renault’s own factory at Sandouville.[1] Styling followed the same “family feeling” language as the contemporary Vel Satis and Avantime, and the range moved noticeably upmarket, staying in production, through three further facelifts, until 2015.

As with the first generation, per-engine power figures are absent from the English Wikipedia article, which lists engine codes and displacements only; this entry’s power figures for both trims come from the French-language article instead, cited separately in the data.
