Renault’s supermini, on sale continuously since 1990 as the replacement for the Renault 5, and consistently one of Europe’s best-selling cars.[1] It is one of only two nameplates (the other being the Volkswagen Golf) to have won European Car of the Year twice, in 1991 and 2006. This entry covers three of its six generations: the original X57, the volume-selling X65 that carried both the everyday hatchback and the Renault Sport performance line, and the current BJA.
Generations
Each generation is its own entry, with its own specifications and sources.
