Body style

Grown from a designer’s unauthorised mockup shown to Renault’s CEO in 2020, the E-Tech revives the 5 name on a battery-electric hatchback built on the same AmpR Small platform as the Renault 4 E-Tech and the Alpine A290.[1] It won European Car of the Year in 2025 and quickly became one of the best-selling electric cars in Europe, with the large majority of its buyers new to the Renault brand.

Two motor and battery combinations are recorded here directly from the infobox’s confirmed production specification. Electric range is left as an explicit placeholder rather than filled with the “expected 400 km” figure quoted by a Renault executive before the car’s final specification was set. That figure was a pre-launch estimate, not a confirmed WLTP number, and the source does not give one.
