Powertrain

Unveiled in Tokyo on 2 September 2026, five years after the fourth generation ended production, the new Pajero returns to body-on-frame construction on a modified front section of the sixth-generation Mitsubishi Triton’s ladder frame, aimed squarely at the Toyota Land Cruiser.[1] It launches with a single 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine and Mitsubishi’s Super All Wheel Control system, carrying over the Super Select 4WD II hardware from the outgoing generation. Depending on market, it is sold with rear-wheel drive as an entry specification (a first for the nameplate) or four-wheel drive as standard. Production is centred on Thailand, for sale in roughly 100 countries; as of this entry, no US or Canadian launch has been announced.

One trim is recorded here, the single powertrain offered at launch. Torque is published as a range depending on variant (470-480 N⋅m); the lower figure is recorded, in keeping with this catalogue’s rule for a published range not assigned to a specific trim by the source.
