Launched for the 2008 model year on the same platform as the E70 X5, the E71 introduced BMW’s Dynamic Performance Control system, actively splitting torque side-to-side across the rear axle rather than only front-to-rear, to sharpen a genuinely heavy car’s handling.[1] BMW also used it to launch the company’s first full hybrid, the ActiveHybrid X6, which paired a twin-turbo V8 with two electric motors for a published combined system output of 357 kW. The ActiveHybrid X6 is one of the few hybrids in this catalogue where Wikipedia actually states a real system figure rather than separate engine and motor numbers.
That ActiveHybrid trim is not recorded as its own entry here for reasons of scope, not because the figure is unusable; the two trims that are recorded, the base xDrive35i and the X6 M, both state power directly in kW rather than requiring a hp/PS conversion.
