A front mid-engined grand tourer built between 2003 and 2010 as a joint project between Mercedes-Benz, who styled it and owned 40 percent of the McLaren Group at the time, and McLaren, who engineered, built and tested every car at their Woking technology centre.[1] The name is short for “Sport Leicht Rennsport” (sport, light, racing) and is a direct nod to the 300 SLR racer of 1955.
Only one generation was ever built, so this catalogue’s hub-and-generation structure here holds a single entry: one nameplate, one car, sold as a coupé, a roadster, and, in its last year, the windscreen-less Stirling Moss speedster.
