Privacy
Short version: your camera stays on your device, and analytics only runs if you say yes.
Camera
When you use the live camera, the video is processed entirely inside your browser. No video, photo or frame is ever uploaded. CapXer has no server that could receive it: the site is a set of static files.
The camera only starts when you tap to turn it on, and it is released when you switch back to the scene or leave the page. Photos you take are made in your browser and handed straight to you as a file. The level uses your device's motion sensors in the same way: the readings never leave the browser. The exposure aids (histogram, zebras, false colour and focus peaking) are calculated in your browser from the same video, and nothing about them is sent anywhere.
Settings on your device
CapXer remembers a few choices, such as your theme and your analytics choice, in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device. Clearing your site data removes them. The phone or webcam you pick for the live camera is not stored at all: it is forgotten when you reload the page.
Analytics
If you allow it, CapXer uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are used. Google Analytics then sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) and receives information such as the pages you view, your browser and device type, and your approximate location. Google signals and ad personalisation are turned off.
If you decline, Google Analytics is never loaded and no analytics cookies are set. CapXer never sends your camera feed, photos or camera and lens settings to analytics.
You can change your choice at any time:
What CapXer does not have
No accounts, no ads, no tracking beyond the optional analytics above, and no selling of data.
